The first Indian SUV, Tata Safari has been in the Indian market for a decade now. However, as per the reports it was being claimed that Tata Safari's competitor Mahindra Scorpio has acquired the top rank in this segment.
According to the speculations, Tata will be introducing a new SUV in 2011. The new SUV may be named Tata Merlin. The SUV is expected to be shaped a bit slimmer than the old version Tata Safari with cleaner looks from front. The design might have a slight resemblence with the Jaguar land Rover SUV.
The new Tata SUV will be loaded with the a 2.2ltr Dicor engine placed under the bonnet hood. Tata Safari/Merlin is likely to be endowed with the 4x4 and many other features from Tata Aria. Advanced safety features like Electronic Stability Program(ESP) and traction control might be included in the new model. Other bells and whistles may come as part of the final product offering.
