Tata Nano Diesel Version - 40 kms per litre

Tata Nano since its launch in India has been in news for various reasons. Currently, it is being heard that Tata Nano diesel version will run a 40 kmpl which seems unbelievable.
It was rumoured that Tata Nano will not be affixed with CRDI mill but will be based on the platform of Tata ACE's IDI powertrain.

Until now Tata Nano was supposed to come with 2 cylinder CRDI mill. A source revealed that the company is working towards two cylinder diesel mill for the wonder car.
Tata ACE the pick up from the Indian utility maker is affixed with 4 stroke, two cylinder, 700 cc mill which is BS III complaint.

Now if the Tata Motors wishes to equip with the Tata Nano with the same mill it must mend the engine to comply it to BS IV emission norms  as the maker does not wish to slash out on its buyers. Though 40 kmpl sounds incredible it will be difficult to achieve.
The smallest wagon globally is sure to spice up the competition further when launched in the diesel variant. In the small car segment where its  cut throat competition, coming with a diesel option is the right move. It is being assumed that the new variant will being a major change in the dipping sales graph. Other than this, the company has been coming with various schemes on Tata Nano which is attracting buyers again such as four year warranty, added safety features, easy interest and much more.
