Get the Look: Sustainable Spring
The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Get the Look: Sustainable Spring.
Setting a new standard for sustainable fashion, H&M introduces its eco-sensible collection just in time for spring. The brilliant lineup, composed of a variety of earth-friendly materials, is an ode to understated-meets-playful chic. Low-key separates in soft neutrals mingle with energetic pops of color, and unexpected prints add a witty touch to ladylike cuts.
On their own, they would be downright mesmerizing – but the beauty is also in the details. All garments and accessories are made with certified organic cotton, which reduces the impact on the environment and preserves the planet's valuable natural resources. The eco-conscious material is grown without chemicals and artificial fertilizers, and is just as soft and comforting to the touch as traditional cotton. The company also utilizes recycled polyester, which is created with PET bottles and textile remnants, as well as Tencel® and recycled wool.
In using these natural materials, the company hopes to draw even greater attention to its commitment to sustainable style. Its ultimate hope is that all of the cotton used in its products will be sustainably sourced by the year 2020. As they work toward this goal, H&M continues its involvement with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), which promotes the improvement of cotton cultivation and its impact on society and the environment.
This collection channels a "less is more" philosophy with its luxurious pieces, which are at once minimal and feminine, buoyant and ladylike, charming and ethereal. The mixed bag offers something for everyone this season, when everything is about fanciful, sophisticated fun. A flirty floral dress ($34.95) is beguiling with frill trim and a flattering elasticized waist, while a tiered chiffon dress ($19.95) composed of recycled polyester exudes an incredibly glam, sassy-chic vibe.
The polished end of the spectrum offers clear proof that the menswear trend is still very much relevant. A borrowed-from-his-closet double-breasted blazer ($34.95) in navy spells perfection over everything from the season's wide leg jeans to a playful skirt. Speaking of, the organic cotton heart-etched skirt ($24.95) is quirky style at its very best. Work more upbeat prints into your warm weather wardrobe with a darling floral top ($29.95), complete with a self-tie belt at the waist.
Of course, nothing is complete without accessories. A floral scarf ($6.95) adds a shot of color to a subdued palette. A wrist stacked with adorable heart-shaped bangles ($5.95) gives new meaning to "arm candy." An imitation suede heel ($34.95) looks dynamic with the season's prettiest dresses and channels a hint of 1970s glamour courtesy of its faux wood heel.
Going organic has never been so fun!
