Blake Lively for Chanel Ad Campaign

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Blake Lively for Chanel Ad Campaign.

Blake Lively was hired to be the spokesmodel for Chanel Handbags print campaign and now the first image has appeared online.

The ad, shot by Karl Lagerfeld, has the Gossip Girl against a set of mirrors staring at the viewer from her reflection and carrying the new Mademoiselle bag.

In contrast to singer Lily Allen’s playful Breakfast at Tiffany’s–inspired ads, Lively’s campaign feels edgier and more sophisticated, with a moody, Hitchcockian tone.

Millenary hand-wound Minute Repeater with Audemars Piguet escapement

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Millenary hand-wound Minute Repeater with Audemars Piguet escapement.

Audemars Piguet
Indication of the time, initially created to “tell” the time in the dark in an age when electricity had not yet been invented, is the oldest of all horological complications. Audemars Piguet has made it part of its fundamental identity, by creating minute repeater and grand strike models right from the time of its founding in 1875. The new Millenary Minute Repeater model is in direct line with this tradition. This exceptional watch with its oval case and three-dimensional architecture reveals the essentials of its refined movement: a new AP escapement, a double balance-spring, as well as the striking mechanism and its gongs. The result is a genuine visual delight.

Perpetuating a line of exceptional watches
Drawing upon the time-honoured know-how cultivated by Audemars Piguet, the new Millenary Minute Repeater is enriching a classic and sculptural collection that already includes such exceptional models as the Tradition d’Excellence N°5, MC12, Deadbeat Seconds and Carbon One watches. Endowed with hours, minutes, seconds and minute repeater functions and equipped with a winding system specially developed for its hand-wound Calibre 2910, the Millenary Minute Repeater – like its illustrious forerunners – is a concentrated blend of expertise, technical sophistication and innovative materials. Its titanium oval case provides an atypical stage-setting for a truly magnificent sight featuring offset gold subdials inviting the observer to plunge into the mechanism’s deepest secrets. The AP escapement, the double balance-spring, as well as the hammers and the striking gongs, all become the key players of a truly three-dimensional creation.

The striking mechanism is the oldest of all complications. As early as the 15th century, certain pocket-watches already sounded the hours in passing, whereas quarter-repeating mechanisms striking the hours and quarters on demand appeared in the late 17th century. These watches endowed with a mechanical memory and which initially served to tell the time in the dark are now one of the greatest demonstrations of horological expertise, and the exclusive preserve of a few rare movement manufacturers.

A complication inscribed in the brand genes

At the time of its founding in 1875, Audemars PIguet already made minute repeater and Grande Sonnerie (or grand strike) models. As time went by, it added other complications, such as a perpetual calendar and a chronograph, as well as a power-reserve indication in 1885. The experience thus acquired enabled it to make the first minute repeater wristwatch in 1892. This masterpiece of miniaturization lastingly inscribed this complication in the brand’s genes, to the extent that in the late 1980s, when there was no more research on these models that had sadly fallen into oblivion, Audemars Piguet became one of the first manufacturers to revive this genre.

The new Millenary Minute Repeater is entirely in line with this longstanding tradition, while adopting the latest technological breakthroughs developed by Audemars Piguet, starting with the new AP escapement. As an essential component in the smooth running of a watch, the escapement serves to sequence the linear energy transmitted by the barrel. Drawing inspiration from a mechanism created in the late 18th century by a watchmaker named Robin, Audemars Piguet developed a new escapement combining the high efficiency of a direct-impulse escapement with the reliability of a Swiss lever escapement. The watchmakers in Le Brassus thereby succeeded in reducing the energy losses and in eliminating the need to lubricate the pallet-stones. This groundbreaking technical development in turn enhanced rating accuracy, long-term stability and shock-resistance.

A sophisticated device
Conceived, developed and produced by Audemars Piguet, the new hand-wound Calibre 2910 driving the Millenary Minute Repeater is also distinguished by the atypical construction of the regulating organ. The latter is composed, not of one balance-spring, but of two balance-springs placed top to tail. This flat opposite-facing double balance-spring system boasts numerous advantages: it ensures automatic compensation for potential poising flaws; eliminates the need for the “overcoil” terminal curves of so-called “Breguet-type” balance-springs, which are always very tricky to make; and also does away with the imprecision resulting from the vertical position of the watch without needing to resort to such a sophisticated device as the tourbillon. All these special features serve to ensure finer adjustment of the balance-and-spring assembly oscillating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

The two movement barrels guarantee an exceptional seven-day power reserve. A third barrel dedicated to the striking mechanism is two and a half times larger than normal, and enhances the regularity of the note. Finally, in terms of security, the Millenary Minute Repeater is equipped with a balance-stop system designed to ensuring time-setting that is accurate to the nearest second. The new winding system also features a security device that prevents time-setting while the striking mechanism is in operation, thus avoiding any risk of inappropriate handling.

Dynamic three-dimensional architecture
Such refined mechanical features naturally deserved to be matched by equally exceptional finishing. The oval-shaped Millenary case in brushed titanium – a material featuring exceptional resonance qualities – is framed by a polished titanium bezel. The various organs within are barely concealed by the anthracite grey hours and minutes subdial offset at 3 o’clock, and by the small seconds at 7 o’clock. Particular care has been lavished on the hand-polished bevelling, on the interior angles and on the concentric circular-grained motif. The movement is also adorned by a horizontal “Côtes de Genève” pattern. This wealth of details is visible both from the top and through the transparent caseback, which together serve to highlight a particularly dynamic three-dimensional architecture. Through its impressive combination of performances and technological accomplishments, the Audemars Piguet Millenary Minute Repeater makes a decisive new contribution to the history of this collection.

Reed Krakoff’s First Fragrance

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Reed Krakoff’s First Fragrance.

The Reed Krakoff Collection was first shown at New York Fashion Week last February, and it launched in September. It includes ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry, small leather goods, sunglasses, watches, and accessories – a designer grab bag. Krakoff’s goal with his limited-edition fragrance is to create a “beautiful, quality, artisan-inspired product. His attention to detail is evident in the bottles for the fragrance, which are handcrafted by the Seguso family in Murano, Italy.

The house has produced high-quality glass since the 12th century. The bottles are rendered in four colors: gray, nude, silver fleck, and clear – using the sommerso technique, which involves creating a bottle within a bottle. The inner bottle is shaded with the chosen color, while the outer shell is clear. It’s very “Danish” looking to me – very modern.Oddly, the bottles are sold empty, but include two refills of the fragrance. The scent, an eau de parfum, is described as opening with a blend of black pepper, bright aldehydes, and neroli extract. It has a heart of French hyacinth absolute, white peony, and violet leaf extract, and a dry-down of vetiver heart, precious vetiver absolute, and orris concrete.

Only 100 of each color bottle will be produced, all four varieties containing the same fragrance. The bottles are hand-numbered, and each will retail for $695. Krakoff is aware that the limited run and high price tag of the scent will put it out of the reach of many people. When she wears it, she feels enveloped in a veil of well-being, happiness, attractiveness, and enlightenment. It intoxicates her like no other scent. The bottle adds to the experience – a center of attention on a spare dressing table – the most important possession on her vanity. She is self-confident and happy when she wears her fragrance, not because she is the only one within miles who can afford it, but because it’s her path to zen. This fragrance sounds divine. The notes are intriguing, and I would love to get my hands on a sample.

A watch worthy of the McLaren MP4-12C

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents A watch worthy of the McLaren MP4-12C.

One of its most famous products is called the Carrera, and the legendary Steve McQueen wore one on film while piloting his Heuer-sponsored Porsche 917 around the Circuit La Sarthe. But in reality, the Swiss watchmaker is much closer to McLaren.

Heuer took on the TAG name when Mansour Ojjeh acquired the watchmaker. His company, Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG), built the Porsche turbo engines that powered McLaren’s F1 cars through the mid 80s to back-to-back world championships. Today, TAG Heuer is part of the LVMH luxury products conglomorate, but Ojjeh’s independent TAG Company still owns part of McLaren. And now, following special watches made to accompany the McLaren F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, the two have come back together for a timepiece to compliment the new MP4-12C supercar.

Based on the Carrera model, the MP4 edition features a carbon fiber dial with a large window to see the movement and a big orange zero where the 12 should be, is housed in a sandblasted titanium case and affixed to the wrist with a sweet perforated Alcantara strap. The orange detailing reflects McLaren’s traditional color, and the 47-jewel Dubois Depraz Calibre 4900 fly-back chronograph movement features a perpetual calendar display.

Ralph Lauren’s Diamond Link Watch

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Ralph Lauren’s Diamond Link Watch.

A high-jewelry timepiece from Ralph Lauren Watches is this Stirrup collection Diamond Link. A full pave 18k white gold case for the small sized Ralph Lauren Stirrup is not new, but the great looking chain-style bracelet is. The case is about 28mm wide and features a specially made for Ralph Lauren Piaget caliber RL430 manually wound mechanical movement. The Stirrup style is clearly meant to as homage to Ralph Lauren’s love of equestrian activities.

There are literally hundreds of diamonds on the case and bracelet – 1,553 of them in fact. It was nice for me to play with the drool worthy watch. I am sure it would have been like cat nip for women. Total stone weight is about 24.70 carats. Yes, that is a lot of stones. The mixture of the case style and the classy bracelet are a fine mix of the unique styling of RL pieces combined with a very classic jewelry style presentation.

Couture Boudoir Photography For Valentine’s Day

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Couture Boudoir Photography For Valentine’s Day.

Ladies, let’s be honest. It’s pretty easy to buy women gifts. Throw a couple diamonds or a spa package our way, and most of us will be completely content. Men, however, aren’t that easy, particularly when it comes to romantic gifts. He probably doesn’t want, say, any frilly underthings. However, he probably does want to see you in your frilly underthings. So, then, what’s better than commemorating your beauty in a way that he can enjoy at his leisure. Critsey Rowe is an international photographer who will help you take the boudoir photos of your (and his) dreams.

Boudoir photography is the kind of personalized gift that can go wrong really quickly. The wrong photographer, the wrong lighting, or the the wrong concept can take it from a sexy, but tasteful, gift to something smutty and declasse pretty fast. Critsey Rowe is a woman who gets the job done in a beautiful way. Choose the attitude you’re going for: sassy, sultry, couture, or any combination, and let her take pictures that both of you will love. Throw in a bow and this is basically the perfect Valentine’s gift for any man.

Alexander Wang Zipper Sunglasses

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Alexander Wang Zipper Sunglasses.

Alexander Wang is sort of a cult figure in the fashion world. His edgy, minimal aesthetic has spawned a cult of loyal followers. I’m a fan because not only is his line modern, but it also manages to be totally timeless. The Alexander Wang you buy today will look equally cool ten years from now. Including these amazing zipper square-frame sunglasses. They have sort of that Wayfarer look that Rayban made so popular, but with an exciting touch. The black frames are inlaid with abstract pewter zipper markings, which are hip without hitting you over the head with it. Most sunglasses make me think of summer, but these have a cool winter-y vibe that makes them perfect for all your cold weather outfits. And at $365, they will make a great MLK gift for that special someone.

Most Expensive Purses

Louis Vuitton’s Tribute Patchwork Bag – $45,000

Louis Vuitton’s Tribute Patchwork Bag, LV’s most expensive handbag, has an even higher retail price. This hideous bag, made in 2007 from fifteen other bags exhumed from LV’s fashion graveyard their summer and cruise lines, to be exact actually sold out fairly quickly. One can only hope that the supply, limited to only twenty-four numbered bags, had more to do with that than high demand.

Hermes “Birkin” – $64,800

While a Hermes “Birkin” bag retails at $37,000 USD, the highest amount paid for one of these bags was $64,800 USD, sold at a Doyle New York auction in April of 2005. This black crocodile-skin features silver hardware, 14-karat white gold closure plates paved with 174 diamonds and an additional 310 diamonds on the lock. The 484 diamonds weigh in at 14.11 carats.

Leiber Precious Rose – $92,000

There’s a lot more going on with this purse than that, however. It’s lined with metallic kidskin and features 1,016 diamonds (42.56 carats), 1,169 pink sapphires and 800 pink tourmalines. For the purse’s metal components, Leiber used 18-karat white gold. Only one was ever made and it’s no longer available from Leiber’s boutique.

Lana Marks’ Cleopatra Clutch – $100,000

Lana Marks releases just one of these limited edition bags per year. Pictured here is the 2007 bag, made with metallic silver alligator skin and 1,500 fully cut, faceted black and white diamonds set in an 18-karat white gold frame. Each year’s bag is signed and numbered.

Chanel “Diamond Forever” Classic Bag – $261,000

The alligator-skin bags featured clasps set with 334 diamonds (3.56 carats) in the shape of Chanel’s trademark double-C logo. Eighteen-karat white gold was used to fashion both the clasp and the bag’s long shoulder straps.

Ginza Tanaka’s purse – $1.9 million

The most expensive purse in the world is a unique bag created by Japanese jewelry house Ginza Tanaka. It shouldn’t surprise you that the most expensive purse is covered in diamonds over 2,000 diamonds totaling 208 carats, in fact but the bag’s other features make it truly special. The luxurious handbag will be on display in several stores across London during the first ever London Jeweler Week. It’s being offered by jewelry shop Nicholas James for the phenomenal price of US $2 million.
